Like all of us my life experiences and personal history make me the person I am as much as my background in the arts and education.
As a Humanistic Integrative counsellor I draw on all of the parts of myself to allow for a richer understanding of the issues that people bring to me and to recognise our shared humanity which is the basis of my approach.
I view each person as a unique and complex human being taking into account everything that makes you you, your life in the present, the affects on you from past experiences and any future hopes, dreams and desires.
The relationship between us is at the centre of the work and building trust and rapport are essential to positive outcomes.
I am an accredited member of the IACP, Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy and follow their professional code of ethics and framework for good practice.
As required by the IACP, I am in regular supervision and follow an ongoing programme of continuing professional development - CPD.
Another essential part of my role as a counsellor is to keep myself informed of recent developments and thinking within the field of counselling and psychotherapy and to stay abreast of the many social changes and competing and often complex demands on all our lives.
I am fully insured to practice and hold professional and personal liability insurance.
